How to build a helper timetable that actually sticks

Five quick rules that keep the week running — and your helper from being overloaded.

1Start with the fixed points. Block in what never moves — school runs, meals, medication. Everything else flows around them.
2Group similar tasks. Batch cleaning, laundry and errands so the day has a rhythm instead of constant switching.
3Protect rest breaks. A real lunch break and a short tea break aren't optional — a rested helper is a reliable one.
4Spread the heavy chores. Don't stack laundry and a deep clean on the same day. Spread big jobs across the week.
5Keep it visible — in her language. Put it where she sees it, ideally in the language she reads best, so nothing is lost in translation.
